As part of an ongoing online series, IUHOOSIERS.com will highlight each week in Indiana athletics history, starting with Oct. 30-Nov. 5.

Oct. 30, 1993 - Indiana's football team topped No. 22 Michigan State, 10-0, en route to an Independence Bowl berth. The Hoosiers allowed the Spartans - who entered the contest averaging 399 yards of total offense per game - to only 41 yards rushing and 161 yards of total offense on the day. Jermaine Chaney scored Indiana's lone touchdown in the second quarter, while Bill Manolopoulos added a 31-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for the final margin.

Oct. 30, 2004 - The football team repeated its Oct. 30 magic, topping No. 23 Minnesota in Bloomington, 30-21. The Hoosiers rushed for a season-high 238 yards, while holding the prolific Gopher ground game to just 169 total yards.

Oct. 31, 1992 - Four-time cross country All-American Bob Kennedy won his fourth Big Ten Championship race, taking first place at the league summit in Champaign, Ill. He would go on to win his second NCAA cross country national championship later in the season.

Oct. 31, 1993 - IU's Wendy Dillinger scored twice and Sheryl Mansberger added another goal as the women's soccer team beat UW-Green Bay, 3-1, to cap a nine-game winning streak and finish Indiana's first varsity season with a 12-6 record. A UW-Green Bay penalty kick goal in the 84th minute ended a Hoosier shutout streak of 848:37, a school record that still stands today.

Nov. 1, 1998 - The men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 contest to UCLA at the UCLA Soccer Classic, ending the Hoosiers' 13-game winning streak, and finished the regular season 16-2. Indiana started a new streak in its next game, winning the next seven games to take the Big Ten and NCAA titles.

Nov. 2, 1977 - Robert Meschbach and Hudson Fortune scored three goals each and Charlie Fajkus and Angelo DiBernardo recorded three assists each as the Hoosiers' men's soccer team downed Ball State, 11-1.
