Nov. 7, 1942 - The Hoosier football squad posted a 7-0 victory over No. 7
Minnesota to improve its record to 4-3 on the year. It was the first of four
straight shutouts to finish the season, as IU went 7-3, the most wins for a
Hoosier squad since 1905.
Nov. 8, 2005 - The Indiana field hockey team, in its sixth year as a varsity
sport, received its first bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Hoosiers finished
the season with a 17-5 record, finishing in second place in the Big Ten in
the regular season and at the championship.
Nov. 8-10, 1996 - Indiana's women's soccer team, seeded seventh, recorded
upsets over 12th-ranked Penn State (1-0), Northwestern (2-0) and 10th-ranked
Wisconsin (1-0) to earn its first Big Ten Tournament title. That led to the
first NCAA Tournament berth in IU history.
Nov. 9-10, 1991 - The Indiana men's soccer team came away victorious in the
first Big Ten Men's Soccer Tournament, posting victories over Penn State and
Wisconsin. It gave the Hoosiers their fifth straight trip to the NCAA
Tournament, where they won two matches to advance to the NCAA College Cup.
Nov. 12, 1988 - Michelle Dekkers of the women's cross country team wins the
NCAA Region IV Championship in the 5,000 meters, posting a time of 16:55.5,
defeating her nearest competition by nearly 30 seconds. Dekkers went on to
win the NCAA Championship nine days later with a time of 16:30.
Nov. 12, 1994 - The Hoosier volleyball squad posted a come-from-behind,
five-set victory over Purdue to post a season sweep of the Boilermakers for
the second time in three years. The Boilers won the first two games,
including a 15-5 victory in game one, before the visitors won the final
three games to post the victory. It marked the second win in a string of
five straight victories over IU's rival.
