    Assistant Athletic Trainer (Baseball, Cheerleading)

    Joel Langemaat MS, LAT, ATC is the staff Athletic Trainer working with the IU baseball and cheerleading programs. He also served as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer from 2008-10, here at IU.

    Joel grew up in southern Indiana and earned his bachelors of Liberal Arts with emphasis in Athletic Training from Purdue University in 2005. He received a MasterâTMs of Science in Athletic Training from Indiana University in 2010. Langemaat is an approved clinical instructor and mentor with Indiana UniversityâTMs Athletic Training Education Undergraduate and Graduate programs. He teaches the bandaging/strapping clinical class for the sophomore undergraduate students. Langemaat is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and has attended numerous continuing education national meetings gaining experience in advanced rehabilitation and soft tissue mobilization techniques. In 2006 Langemaat worked with the NATA at their annual Capitol Hill Day in Washington, D.C to help educate legislatures on what Athletic Trainers do and the variety of work settings they work in.

    Prior to coming to IU, Langemaat worked at STAR Physical Therapy in southern Indiana as head Athletic Trainer for North Harrison High School from 2005-08. Langemaat also has worked at IU Health Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine-Bloomington from 2009-10 as the full-time Athletic Trainer for Bloomington High School North.

    Joel and his wife Tara live in Greenwood, Ind., and are proud new parents to their first child, Landon, born the summer of 2014.
