BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - #25 Indiana's eight-match winning streak came to an end on Sunday when the Hoosiers fell in a non-conference contest at Notre Dame. Sophomore Lindsey Stuckey picked up a singles win for IU in the 6-1 defeat.
The Fighting Irish has put together two nationally-ranked doubles tandems, and each garnered victories on Sunday. Indiana's Alba Berdala and Lindsey Stuckey dropped a tight 8-6 battle with #50 Cosmina Ciobanu and Colleen Rielley while Brianna Williams and Katya Zapadalova took on the nation's top-ranked doubles team in the first singles match. Sigrid Fischer and Myriam Sopel notched a win for the Hoosiers in the No. 3 doubles match, an 8-7 winner over Kali Krisik and Katie Potts.
Stuckey then closed the gap to 2-1 with her 19th singles win of the season, 13th in the duals. The Greensboro, N.C. native began by grabbing the first set 6-4. She then sealed the deal in straight sets with a 6-2 second-set triumph.
Following a 6-4 first-set loss, Sopel bounced back in a big way, winning the second set 6-0. With the team score already determined at that point, the third and final set was determined by a 10-point tiebreaker in which her opposition, Potts, won.
