Williams Named CBS Sports Player of the Week

The junior averaged 14.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana junior forward Troy Williams was named the National Player of the Week by CBS Sports on Monday. He helped the Hoosiers to wins over IPFW and McNeese State last week, as IU improved to 8-3 on the season. In those two games, Williams averaged 14.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals.
In the Hoosiers 90-65 win over IPFW on Wednesday, Williams tallied a career-best 19 rebounds to go with 15 points - his seventh career double-double - while also adding five blocked shots and two steals. The 19 rebounds were the most by an IU player since Cody Zeller hauled in 19 against Central Connecticut State on Dec. 8, 2012.
On Saturday against McNeese State, he scored 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds in addition to handing out three assists, blocking one shot and coming away with two steals in the 105-60 win.
For the year, Williams is averaging 13.0 points and 6.9 rebounds while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor.
Indiana will continue non-conference play this Saturday, Dec. 19, when they take on Notre Dame at Bankers Life Fieldhouse as part of the annual Crossroads Classic event. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on ESPN.
