Below is an installment of a blog originally developed and written by Indiana women's basketball players Tyra Buss, Amanda Cahill and Jess Walter. This post and future posts will be entirely written by these three players. Nothing has changed from the original Fresh Folk Blog except the platform. Enjoy!
B can't drive more than an hour without stopping to use the bathroom.
JJ can't drive unless she is listening to Beyoncé Pandora.
TT has a sleeping problem and can't stay awake for more than ten minutes.
Alabama has no gas stations but it sure does have an excess of critters.
KFC in Kentucky tastes the same as KFC in the other 49 states.
SPF 85 should be applied before the burn in order to be useful.
Yes, you can turn purple from a sunburn.
These are all takeaways from the Folk's road trip to Panama City Beach. We left on a Thursday, and made the 12 hour haul to the beach. And when we say 12 hours, we really mean about 15. B and TT, being the veryyyyyyy studious student-athletes that they are, had to stop to take an online test. They aced it, but we lost valuable time since we were idiots and didn't realize we didn't need to turn back 20 minutes for the McDonald's WiFi. There are McDonald's at basically every exit, just so y'all know. Traffic struck in Tennessee, and just when we started to pick up steam in Alabama, everything fell apart. The deer were in full flock and the bugs were nasty. Then, we basically ran out of gas and rolled in to a sketch gas station on "E". Eventually, we arrived.
Friday was full of fun in the sun, playing in waves, drinking virgin Miami Vices, soaking up the rays, beach volleyball domination, bomb chicken tenders, and... friendship. We managed to take a couple pictures where we looked like girls, so that was a plus too. We really were on our Instagram game... FOLLOW US (@acahi11, @tbuss3, @jess.walter). That night, we ate dinner with the Buss clan and it was delish.

Saturday kicked off with JJ's first ever Waffle House experience. B and TT, seasoned Waffle House veterans, ordered the usual... Waffles. Since Beez got ROASTED on Friday, we then had to go purchase SPF 85 for ultimate protection. And if that wasn't enough, she took extra precautionary steps. The Umbrella. Now, this umbrella wasn't just any old umbrella. It was THE Umbrella. With a capital U. As TT soaked up the rays, and JJ tried to soak up the rays, Beez went to work on the Umbrella. After about seven tries and practically covering JJ with it, she finally secured it... for a solid half hour. We had a night on the town and got a good night's sleep for the drive home the next day.
Moral of the story: Yes, we are still best friends. We fought off baby sharks, stingrays, and the Alabama bugs and have lived to tell the story.
