BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer head coach Amy Berbary announced the addition of Alex Greco to the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2015 season. Greco comes to IU after spending the last two years as a volunteer assistant at UNC Greensboro.
"First, let me say how excited we are as a staff to have Alex join us." Head Coach Amy Berbary said, "He brings a wealth of experience from his time at UNC Greensboro, as well as a hardworking and eager attitude to step in and do what is needed to help our Indiana program continue to take strides forward."
In his second season with UNCG, Greco served as the goalkeepers coach, helping freshman Chloe Buehler earn Southern Conference (SoCon) All-Freshman accolades. He also worked individually with all-conference players Georgia Brown, Rebecca Burrows and First Team All-Conference honoree Chesney White. In the spring of 2014, he also served as an interim assistant coach, helping the Spartans sign their recruiting class for the year.
"I would like to thank Amy, Sergio and Benji, for bringing me on staff. The opportunity to coach at Indiana University is the ideal break in my young career to learn, grow and improve as a coach." Greco said. "I look forward to learning from everyone, working alongside coaches with vast experience and assisting the team in our quest towards a successful season."
During his first season at UNCG, the Spartans finished 10-6-4 and a No. 3 seed in the Southern Conference. Greco helped coached all aspects of the team, including breaking down film throughout the season. The team picked up two All-Conference honorees in Rebecca Burrows (second team) and Chesney White (second team). Prior to his recent two-year stint on staff, Greco completed an internship with the women's soccer program at UNCG, where he helped with camps and worked with the team on a daily basis.
After his internship, Greco was an assistant coach for Cardinal Gibbons High School in Boca Raton, Florida, during the 2012-13 athletic season. Also was the under-10 head men's soccer coach for Team Boca in Boca Raton, Fla.
Greco was a camp counselor for Cardinal Gibbons high school from 2004-12 helping with training, equipment and motivating players for practice.
Greco completed his bacholer's degree in Business Administration as a dual-major in entertainment sports promotional management and business management at Northwood University, where he also competed as a student-athlete on the men's soccer team.
