IU to Celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day Feb. 7

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University Athletics will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Sunday, Feb. 7 in conjunction with the IU women's basketball game vs. Nebraska in Assembly Hall. The day will highlight and celebrate female excellence and achievement.
Many fun events are scheduled, including an IU varsity women's sports clinic and autograph session and a Family Festival.
The clinic will run from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. ET inside Gladstein Fieldhouse next to Assembly Hall. The clinic is open to both boys and girls in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. Those wishing to participate must register in advance as it is open to the first 100 who register. IU teams taking part in the clinic include women's soccer, women's swimming and diving, volleyball, rowing and field hockey.
A registration sheet can be downloaded at the link above. Email the completed form to sptmarkt@indiana.edu by sending it in directly as an attachment, take a photo and email it in or simply supply the information requested in the email.
The Family Festival will take place in the North Lobby of Assemlby Hall and is open to anyone who enters with a ticket for the IU-Nebraska game. It will being at 12:30 p.m. when the doors open. The Festival will have a number of interactive booths for fans to enjoy that include face painting, caricature drawings, a DJ on site, among other things.
Then at 2 p.m., Indiana will battle Nebraska on Branch McCracken Court inside of Assembly Hall. At the conclusion of the game, the team will remain on the court to meet and greet with fans.
Adult tickets to Indiana women's basketball games are only $5 as youth tickets are $3 and groups of 25 or more can purchase tickets for only $2. All IU students, staff and faculty get into any IU women's basketball contests for free with a University ID.
