Solid Numbers Posted in Day Two of the Meyo Invitational
Head Coach Ron Helmer was very proud of his team as he left the track of the Meyo Invitational. He said the team had set lofty goals for themselves and many student-athletes were able to hit those marks. Those that did not hit the mark fell just short, another encouraging sign for the coaching staff. The lofty goals set by the team led to twenty individuals setting lifetime best marks in their respective events.
Competing unnattached Sophie Gutermuth placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.30m (14-1.25). Sydney Clute took fifth in the event with a mark of 4.15m (13-7.25).
Brenna Calder finished 11th in the mile with a career best time of 4:42.60. That time marks as the seventh best in school history. Taylor Wiley snuck into the record book with a seventh place finish in the 800m run. Her time of 2:09.53 ranks tenth in program history. Riley Egbula took first in her heat of the 400m dash with a season best time of 56.36. Haley Harris finished with a season best effort in the 3,000m with a time of 9:44.74.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Egbula, Kendell Wiles, Brittni King, and Taylor Williams took sixth with a season best time of 3:44.13.
Daniel Kuhn continued his winning ways by crossing first in the 800m run with a time of 1:48.41. Jordan Huntoon took eighth in the event with a season best time of 1:50.65. Rorey Hunter and Kyle Duvall finish third and fourth in the Meyo Mile with times of 4:00.82 and 4:01.66 respectively. Both times are season bests. Zach Reitzug took second in his heat of the 400m dash with a season best time of 48.32. Mark Chandler ran a season best 8:05.85 in the 3,000m run to finish ninth.
Willie Morrison took third in the shot put with a mark of 17.77m (58-3.75). David Schall finished seventh in the shot with a season best mark of 17.10m (56-1.25).
The Indiana track and field team will be back in action on Friday as they host the Hoosier Hills Invitational.
