Hoosiers Win DMR on Day One at Meyo Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Indiana women’s Distance Medley Relay team highlighted day one of competition for the Hoosiers as they ran the top time in the Big Ten and 14th fastest time in the NCAA on Day one at the Meyo Invitational.
The team of freshman Brittany and Bethany Neeley and juniors Antonia Franklin and Samantha Ginther ran 11:30.14. Their time is also the 10th fastest time in school history.
The Hoosiers performed well in the 60m dash as sophomore La Toya Williams finished ninth in 7.63 seconds, a career-best and eighth fastest time in school history. Sophomore Cornelius Strickland advanced to Saturday’s 60m final, matching his season-best of 6.86 seconds.
Senior Elise Hunter finished in second-place in the 500m run as she crossed the finish line in 1:15.12 and freshman Taylor Wiley finished 11th in the 1,000m run in a time of 2:53.17.
A trio of Hoosiers tied for seventh in the high jump with a height of 1.64m (5-4.50) with Sarah Maxson, Carlee Hearld and Mia Mackinnon. IU alum Emma Kimoto won the high jump with a clearance of 1.74m (5-8.50).
Competition resumes for day two of the Meyo Invitational tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. with the 3,000m run.
