Buckley Wins on Final Day at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Indiana track and field closed out the Florida Relays on Saturday. After Taja Moore won the women's discus on Friday, Kyla Buckley took the Invite Shot Put title on Saturday. IU also got impressive finishes in the relays on the day.
Buckley won the invitational section of the women's shot put, throwing the shot 16.84m (55-3). The junior from Indianapolis won over a pair of professional throwers with Olympic pedigrees in Chia-Ying Lin and Mariam Kevkhishvili. Kevkhishvili won multiple NCAA titles for Florida in the event as a collegiate.
Indiana's women had a good day in the relays, taking second in the distance medley relay and fourth in the 4x800m relay. In the distance medley, Lyndsey Wall, Elise Hunter, Ashley Seymour and Molly Winters ran 12:01.95. In the 4x800, Jordan Gray, Brianna Johnson, Brie Roller and Ashley Seymour combined for a time of 8:53.30.
Indiana's men ran a time of 3:10.69 in the 4x400m relay, which ranks second in the Big Ten this season. Cortland Etgen, Cornelius Strickland, Chris Vaughn and Nathan Pierre Louis were just a half second out of winning their heat.
