EUGENE, Ore. - Indiana track and field closed out action at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday. Senior Andy Bayer took eighth in a very tactical 1,500m race, claiming the 11th All-America honor of his career, which ranks second to only Jim Spivey in IU history. Indiana's men finished tied for 21st place with 11 points, and the Indiana women tied for 53rd with Taja Moore's two points in the women's discus.

Bayer finished in 3:51.39 for eighth place. He was within 1.14 seconds of first. Bayer earned first team All-America honors, the 11th time he has garnered an All-America certificate. Only IU legend Jim Spivey's 12 All-America finishes surpass Bayer's NCAA meet consistency. He finishes his career with 55 points scored at NCAA Championships, which puts him third all-time at IU behind Aarik Wilson's 70 and teammate Derek Drouin's 66. With the eighth place finish, Bayer finishes his career with first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth place finishes at NCAA meets.

Junior Kyla Buckley finished 17th in the women's shot put, just one spot out of second team All-America accolades. Buckley threw 15.66m (51-4.5) on her first throw of the day.

Senior Emma Kimoto competed in the women's high jump, clearing 1.72m (5-7.75) on her third attempt to tie for 21st place.

Next up for the Hoosiers are the USA Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa on June 19-23. For complete coverage of all things IU track and field, stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
