BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - As a donor, you help give our student-athletes a chance to make their dreams come true – both as members of an IU team and throughout their lives. While there’s nothing we can give that compares to that gift, your donation earns you many great benefits and priority points.
Priority points are used to allocate priority seating at football and men’s basketball games. At the Varsity Club, we frequently get asked about ways donors can earn more priority points. In this edition of Priority Point Spotlight, we’ll highlight the priority points you earn by supporting the Varsity Club Annual Giving Fund each and every year.
The Indiana University Priority Point Policy was designed to ensure equitable consideration for the loyalty and financial support of the thousands of IU fans who wish to attend athletic events.
One of the key ways in which this is done is by rewarding the loyalty of donors that support the Varsity Club Annual Giving Fund used for student-athlete scholarships. Five (5) accumulative points are awarded for every continuous year that you remain a donor to this fund.
You must make a minimum gift of $100 every year to maintain your continuous years of priority points. Priority points for Varsity Club donors are granted each July 1 based on contributions made in the prior year (July 1-June 30).
We know that some years may be tough financially for you and your family to make your typical annual gift. By continuing to give, even at a lower annual level, you will ensure that you keep your continuous years of priority points.
And remember that you always benefit in total lifetime contributions to IU Athletics. Donors receive 1 accumulative point for every $100 donated to IU Athletics over their lifetime. Priority points for donations are awarded as gifts are received.
Donors to the Annual Giving Fund also receive non-accumulative priority points each year that vary according to your giving fund level. For a breakdown of non-accumulative points at each level, visit our priority points web page.
Non-accumulative points are awarded on an annual basis, but expire at the end of the year. They are granted each July 1st based on your giving level achieved in the prior year (July 1-June 30).
Note: The IU Priority Point Policy is reviewed annually by the Varsity Club National Board of Directors and is subject to change.
