The IU cross country squads participated in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday afternoon. Indiana's Zach Mayhew finished second overall as teammate Andy Bayer placed fourth. By placing that high, it guarantees a spot for both runners in the NCAA Championships as individuals.

The Indiana cross country teams will compete in the 2012 NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, Nov. 9. The University of Wisconsin is hosting this year at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wis. The women's 6K race will begin the day at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the men's 10K run at 2:15 p.m. ET.

Indiana cross country hosted its annual Hoosier Invitational on Friday afternoon at the IU Championship Cross Country Course. The meet gave IU runners who won't be competing at the NCAA Regional a chance to run on the course one last time in 2012.

Indiana senior Zach Mayhew crossed the line in first place overall at the 2012 Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Sunday, becoming the first Hoosier male to win the conference individual title since Bob Kennedy in 1992.

The championship portion of the 2012 schedule begins this weekend for the Indiana Cross Country teams with the Big Ten Championships. This year's event will be hosted by Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich., at the Forest Akers East Golf Course on Sunday, Oct. 28. The women's 6K race will begin at 10:45 a.m. ET, with the men's 8K run starting at 11:45 a.m. ET.

The Indiana men's cross country runners that participated in the unseeded race at Pre-Nationals on Saturday finished in first place as a team. There were four total races on the day, a men's seeded and unseeded 8K run and a women's seeded and unseeded 6K run. Both IU men's and women's squads that were in Louisville participated in the unseeded races. The Hoosiers women placed 22nd in their competition.

Indiana's Zach Mayhew finished sixth in the men's race of the Adidas Invitational on Friday afternoon in a very competitive field. He helped lead the IU men's cross country team to a 15th place finish overall.

The IU cross country squads will compete in two events over the weekend beginning with the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Friday, Oct. 12 in Madison, Wis. That meet will begin at 1 p.m. ET. The second event of the weekend will be hosted in Louisville, Ky., as this year's Pre-Nationals meet will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 13. The Indiana runners will be split between the two locations.

The Indiana cross country teams competed at the Rim Rock Farm Classic on Saturday morning with the men's team taking second place and women coming in third. Top runners for the Hoosiers were Zach Mayhew, who crossed the line in second place, and Caitlin Engel who finished 14th.

The Indiana cross country teams will head west to participate in the Rim Rock Farm Classic on Saturday, Sept. 29. The meet will be hosted by the University of Kansas at Rim Rock Farm. The meet features two championship races, beginning with the men's 8K race at 10 a.m. ET, followed by the women's 6K at 11 a.m. ET.

The Indiana men's and women's cross country teams both took first place at the annual Indiana Intercollegiate meet in Terre Haute on Friday afternoon. Kelsey Duerksen took the top prize in the women's race for the Hoosiers as Evan Esselink was the top runner for the men's team, finishing in sixth overall.

The Indiana cross country teams will make the short trip over to Terre Haute, Ind. for the annual Indiana Intercollegiate meet which will take place on Friday, Sept. 14. The meet is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. Three races are on the schedule beginning with the open race followed by the women's 5K and then the men's 8K.

The Indiana cross country season officially kicked off with the Indiana Open on Saturday morning in Bloomington. Both men's and women's teams accomplished what they set out to do in their first run on the IU Championship Cross Country Course for 2012.
