    Cross Country Season Begins with Indiana Open on Saturday

    The Indiana Open will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET at the IU Championship Cross Country Course on Sept. 8.


    Johnson, Ricker, Top IU Runners at Hoosier Invitational

    Brianna Johnson and JR Ricker will participate in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 12.

    2012-13 (SOPHOMORE): Cross Country: Did no participate in any cross country events.

    2011-12 (FRESHMAN): Cross Country: Helped IU to a first place team finish at the Indiana Intercollegiates as she took sixth individually in 18:02 ... placed 36th at the Cowboy Jamboree in 18:22.66 as the Hoosiers took second place overall ... participated at the adidas Invitational ... came in third at the Hoosier Invitational in 18:39.46 ... ran at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in a time of 22.40.9. Indoor: Redshirted. Outdoor: Redshirted.

    PREP: Owns Caroll High School school records in the 1,600m (4:56.66), 3,200m (10:46) and the 5K mark in cross country (18:10) ... ran a best time of 2:18 in the 800m ... ran her way to all-state cross country accolades all four years, placing 11th of better each season in the state meet, including a fourth place finish during her senior campaign ... also a three-time all-state honoree in track ... part of a seventh place 4x800m relay team in 2008 ... in 2010, was the state runner-up in the 3,200m run ... placed fourth in the state meet in the 1,600m run and seventh in the 3,200m run in 2011 ... helped lead her team to sectional and regional cross country titles in all four years, making it 11-consecutive sectional championships and 10-consecutive regional championships for Carroll.

    PERSONAL: Born June 23, 1992 ... exercise science major ... daughter of Ben and Bonnie Johnson.

As she transitions into the appropriate and necessary work load we expect to see her be a major contributor to the continued growth of our women's distance program."
