Duerksen, Ginther With Top 20 Finishes at Adidas Invitational

MADISON, Wis./TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Indiana men's and women's cross country teams had a very busy Saturday as IU was represented at both Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. and the Adidas Invitational in Madison, Wis. Kelsey Duerksen and Samantha Ginther had strong days as they finished 12th and 20th, respectively, in the top women's race of the Adidas Invite.
Duerksen was the first Hoosier to finish the 6K course with a time of 20:04 as Ginther was close behind, clocking in at 20:10. Other IU scorers included Erica Ridderman in 93rd (21:04), Amanda Behnke in 98th (21:06) and Chanli Mundy in 128th (21:17). As a team, the IU women placed 12th out of 37 teams in Madison.
The IU men that participated at Wisconsin finished in 17th as a team. Bloomington native Carl Smith led IU with a 36th place finish in a time of 23:54. Evan Esselink also finished in the top 50 with a time of 23:59 in 48th position.
The women placed 22nd at Pre-Nationals in the white 6K race. Molly Winters (52nd, 22:05) and Samantha Gwin (65th, 22:16) led the way for the Hoosiers.
