Indiana Announces 2014 Cross Country Schedule
July 3, 2014
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- The Indiana cross country program announced the 2014 schedule on Thursday. The Hoosiers will host two home meets this fall at the IU Championship Cross Country Course.
IU will begin the 2014 schedule at home on Sept. 6 with the Indiana Open. The Hoosiers will then head to West Lafayette on Sept. 19 as Purdue will host the annual Indiana Intercollegiate meet that features all the college teams in the state.
On Oct. 4, Indiana will head to the west coast to take part in the Washington Invitational hosted by the University of Washington in Seattle. The Hoosiers will split the team on Oct. 17-18 to compete in the Adidas Invitational in Madison, Wis. on Oct. 17 and then the following day Indiana will run in the Pre-National meet in Terre Haute, Ind.
The championship portion of the schedule will get started on Nov. 2 when Iowa hosts the Big Ten Championships, as the Indiana men's team will look to defend its conference crown. IU will host its final home meet on Nov. 7 as the Hoosier Invitational gives non-championship runners a final chance to run competitively.
The NCAA Great Lakes Regional will take place on Nov. 14 and will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The 2014 cross country season will then conclude with the NCAA Championships hosted by Indiana State University at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Hoosiers hope to build on their success in the NCAA meet last year. The men placed eighth at NCAAs and have finished in the top 10 in three of the last four years. The IU women's team competed in the national meet last year for the first time since 2009 and placed 26th overall as a team for the its best finish since 2002.
Meet times will be announced as they become available.
