Kelsey Duerksen Earns Another B1G Athlete of the Week Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana women's cross country runner Kelsey Duerksen was named Big Ten Cross Country Athlete of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. It is Duerksen's second weekly conference honor of the season and her fifth career weekly laurel overall (three in track).
Duerksen finished 12th overall in a competitive field at the Adidas Invitational on Oct. 19 in Madison, Wis. She ran the 6K course in a time of 20:04 to lead the Hoosiers, marking her best 6K time so far this season. Among the five Big Ten teams competing, Duerksen was the first individual from the conference to cross the finish line.
The women's race at Wisconsin featured 17 nationally-ranked teams. IU placed 12th as a team as two Hoosier runners placed in the top 20.
Indiana will begin the championship portion of its schedule next time out at the Big Ten Championships on Sunday, Nov. 3. This year's conference meet will be hosted by Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind.
