BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana cross country teams will compete in the 2012 NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, Nov. 9. The University of Wisconsin is hosting this year at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wis. The women's 6K race will begin the day at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the men's 10K run at 2:15 p.m. ET.
The top two teams in each race will earn automatic bids into the NCAA Championships. The top four individual finishers from non-advancing teams will also earn a spot in the national meet.
The No. 20 Indiana men's team finished second in the event a year ago and hopes to advance to the NCAA Championships where the team took seventh in each of the last two years. Big Ten individual champion Zach Mayhew and All-Big Ten honoree Andy Bayer hope to lead IU back to the NCAAs.
Samantha Ginther was the lone lady Hoosier to advance to the NCAA Championships in 2011 as the team looks to get back to the national meet for the first time since 2010.
