IU Cross Country Gets Ready for NCAA Great Lakes Regional
Nov. 10, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana cross country teams will compete in the 2011 Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, Nov. 12. This year, the meet will take place at the Ottawa Golf course and will be hosted by the University of Toledo.
The men's 10K race will begin the day at Noon ET, followed by the women's 6K run at 1:15 p.m. ET. The top 25 finishers in each race will earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors, and the top two teams in each race will earn automatic bids into the NCAA Championships. The top three finishers from non-advancing teams will also earn a spot in the national meet.
The No. 7 Indiana men's team finished second in the event a year ago and hope to advance to the NCAA Championships where the team took seventh place a year ago, the best finish for the program since 1977. The IU women's team took fifth place in last year's event and have hopes of cracking the top two in order to advance on the NCAAs.
