Women's Cross Country Honored for Herbert Cup
Nov. 13, 2013
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's cross country team has excelled in the classroom and earned the Herbert Cup for the 2013 spring semester. The Award is given out each semester to the Indiana Athletics program with the highest GPA for that particular semester and the award is named after former IU president, Adam Herbert.
The team was honored at last weekend's football game and at a dinner with IU President Michael A. McRobbie and Laurie McRobbie earlier this fall. The ladies of the Indiana cross country program finished the spring semester with a collective GPA of 3.57. This marks the third time that the IUXC women have been honored with the Herbert Cup.
"These ladies have worked extremely hard in the classroom and another Herbert Cup recognition shows how that hard work has paid off," director and head coach Ron Helmer said. "We have one of the best, if not the best, academic support systems in the country for student-athletes. But at the end of the day, it's what these individuals do on their own that makes recognition like this possible and worth celebrating."
