    Brendan Armitage was named Director of Compliance for Initial Eligibility at Indiana University in early October of 2013. Armitage recently joined the Hoosiers Athletics Compliance Team after spending the last eight years on three Division I campuses including the University of Central Florida, Kansas State University, and the University of Maryland, as well as a stint at the Western Athletic Conference corporate offices in Denver, CO.

    Since 2005, Armitage has held numerous positions within collegiate athletics. His responsibilities have covered the complete spectrum of NCAA compliance including specializations in admissions, NCAA initial and continuing eligibility, APR/GSR reporting, roster management, playing and practice season setup, recruiting, and financial aid. For the Hoosiers, Armitage oversees NCAA initial eligibility, two and four year college transfer eligibility, NCAA and B1G waiver requests, as well as any interpretive issues and sport-specific oversight questions that might come up.

    As the Director of Compliance at UCF, Armitage was responsible for the daily operations of athletically related financial aid, the National Letter of Intent program, NCAA/American Athletic Conference waivers, and was the athletics liaison to the on-campus housing department. In addition to overseeing the Assistant Director of Compliance for Eligibility, Armitage also assisted the Director of Compliance for Education by providing rules education and interpretations to student athletes, coaches, boosters, staff, and administrators.

    While at Kansas State, Armitage oversaw athletics financial aid and initial/continuing eligibility for over 400 student-athletes. During that time he was also heavily involved in the preparation and submission of medical hardship, initial, continuing, and SLR waivers as well as secondary violations. In addition to assisting the Associate AD/Compliance in daily oversight of the Compliance Office, Armitage was also a founding member of the Compliance, Academics, Registrars, and Financial Aid Committee (CARFAC) which met monthly to discuss key Compliance related issues.

    During the 2007-08 academic year, Armitage worked as the Compliance and Championships Assistant for the Western Athletic Conference in Denver, CO. For the duration of his time at the WAC, Armitage's duties included researching and responding to member institutions' interpretive requests, providing member institutions guidance regarding proposed NCAA legislation, serving as the liaison for the WAC Student-Athlete Advisory Counsel, and assisting with planning, coordination, and operation of WAC Championship events.

    After graduating in 2005, Armitage immediately began working in collegiate athletics at the University of Maryland, College Park. During his two years spent at UM, Armitage served as the Compliance Assistant and Game Operations Manager. Armitage's main compliance duties involved Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund reporting and monitoring student-athletes weekly/daily practice hours, as well as monitoring the head and assistant coaches' monthly recruitment activities. Armitage also served as a Game Operations Manager for the Terps where he oversaw a student staff of 15 and was responsible for the setup, in-game operation, and breakdown of UM's 27 sponsored sports.

    Originally from Columbia, Md., Armitage is a 2005 graduate of Florida Southern College.
