    Curtain Closes On Historic IU Baseball Season

    FRESHMAN YEAR: 2012
    Made five relief appearances spanning 7.1 innings ... earned a save in IU's first victory of the season, a 7-4 win over Cincinnati (2/18) by pitching the final 2.1 innings and striking out two ... worked two-plus innings again at Tulane (2/25), fanning another pair ... needed just two pitches to retire the lone batter faced at East Tennessee State (3/4).

    REDSHIRT (MEDICAL) YEAR: 2011
    Pitched a '1-2-3' inning against Boston College (2/19) before suffering a season-ending forearm injury.

    PREP/PERSONAL:
    Pitched two seasons for Gaetano Gianni at Notre Dame Prep ... pitched in just one game as a senior, striking out five batters in two innings ... missed the remainder of his senior campaign due to growth issues in his forearm ... went 6-1 as a junior with 43 Ks and a 1.32 ERA in 41 innings of work ... helped ND Prep to finish as 4A State Runner-Up as a junior, while the team won the East Sky Region in both 2009 and 2010 ... also played club baseball for the Arizona Diamondbacks Scout Team in 2009 and 2010 ... a Management major ... parents are Robert and Christie Slegers ... has one sister, Rebecca ... born Sept. 4, 1992.
