    JUNIOR YEAR: 2009

    SOPHOMORE YEAR (2008):
    Was named first team All-Big Ten and second team All-Great Lakes Region in a breakout season ... went 7-3 on the year with a 3.59 ERA ... struck out 86 batters in 82 2/3 innings, leading the conference in Ks and posting the fifth-highest total in school history ... was one of just two pitchers to garner Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors three times on the year ... struck out the first three hitters en route to nine Ks in 4 1/3 innings in the Saturday tilt with LSU (2/23) ... was brilliant against Austin Peay, allowing just four hits - three infield singles - and striking out five ... allowed five hits in seven innings of work against Fresno State (3/8) ... was outstanding against Portland (3/14), allowing just six hits in eight innings and striking out 12 ... became the first Hoosier with 12 or more strikeouts since Zach McClellan fanned 12 Vermont Catamounts in 2000 ... picked up first Big Ten honor of his career, being named Pitcher of the Week following his outing against the Pilots ... struck out nine Mastodons in eight innings against IPFW, allowing just five hits ... pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out eight against Illinois (4/6) ... threw six innings against Iowa (4/11), striking out five ... went 5 1/3 innings against Penn State (4/18) ... was brilliant in a start against No. 23 Michigan (4/26), allowing just five hits and striking out eight ... picked up his second Big Ten Pitcher of the Week award following the outing ... went the full seven, striking out nine, against Purdue (5/4), to pick up his fifth victory of the season ... allowed just three hits in a complete-game victory over Northwestern (5/10) ... garnered Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors for the third time, joining Bob Scafa (1993) as the only Hoosiers with that distinction ... won his fourth straight start by going the distance in a 7-6 victory in the first game of a doubleheader against Michigan State (5/16).

    Was one of the top pitchers on the IU staff in his debut campaign, going 4-7 with a 4.33 ERA ... finished second on the team with 70 2/3 innings pitched and led all starters with 50 strikeouts and a .262 batting average against ... earned his first career appearance against Southern Mississippi (2/24), pitching two innings and allowing three hits ... garnered his first career start and win against Northern Iowa (3/4) with a 7 1/3 inning, five-hit outing ... pitched at least five innings in each of his first six starts, including a career-high 8 1/3 innings and nine strikeouts against Florida A&M (3/17) ... threw seven innings of one-run ball in a 3-1, complete-game win over Penn State (4/28) ... held nationally-ranked Minnesota hitless for the first 4 2/3 innings the final weekend of the year.

    Was a standout pitcher, earning three letters for Bruce Cahill at Tippecanoe High School ... earned first team honors from the Central Buckeye Conference as a senior... also was named all-area in his senior season ... was awarded honorable mention to the all-state team in his native Ohio ... had a solid sophomore outing for Tippecanoe, posting one of the five lowest ERAs in the Dayton area ... earned two letters each in basketball and football from Tippecanoe ... has one brother, Brad, and one sister, Jenny ... Brad played and coached baseball at the Air Force Academy ... parents are Gary and Mindy Bashore.
