Made 15 appearances, including one start ... toed the rubber for 24.2 innings, striking out 18 batters and picking off a pair of runners ... enjoyed his spring break in California, throwing a combined five innings of one-hit baseball at Cal State Northridge (3/10) and Loyola Marymount (3/16) ... posted shutout relief stints at Illinois (4/8) and versus Michigan State (4/15) ... steadied the ship with a five-inning showing against Evansville (5/15), allowing IU to complete a comeback victory.
FRESHMAN YEAR: 2011
Started on the mound nine times and made two relief appearances ... threw a complete game in a winning effort over Pittsburgh (3/14), giving up just two runs and walking none ... earned another `W' over a Big East opponent, Louisville (4/19), by lasting 6.1 innings on the road and allowing two scores, one earned ... threw four innings of no-hit baseball at Miami (OH) (4/5) before being pulled to save for the weekend ... posted a 2:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio for the season.
Collected four letters for Mark Thompson at Elder High School ... helped lead Elder to a state runner-up finish and district and regional championships as a senior, as he was named the team's Ralph Birkofer Outstanding Pitcher ... collected second team all-state honors, first team All-Greater Catholic League laurels and All-Cincinnati recognition ... went 9-0 with a 1.24 ERA, racking up 82 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings of work for the most successful program in the history of the state of Ohio ... tossed a shutout against nationally-ranked Cincinnati Moeller in the state semifinals, the only pitcher all season to accomplish that feat ... picked up all-city honors in his junior campaign as well, after going 6-1 with a 1.95 ERA and three shutouts ... helped Elder to a district runner-up finish that season ... also earned second team all-city recognition as a sophomore ... high school teammate of outfield Tim O'Conner ... a Management major ... parents are Tom and Peggy Korte ... has two sisters, Diane and Karen ... born Feb. 13, 1992.
