He had a four-year stint in the San Diego Padres organization, managing the Class A Fort Wayne Wizards in 1999 and working as the hitting/catching instructor for the Class A Clinton Lumber Kings from 1997-98.
Roving instructor/coach for the Bluefield Orioles (1995-96) and Chicago Cubs bullpen catcher from 1992-94.
Drafted in the eighth round out of Davidson College by the Baltimore Orioles in 1987. Later played for the 1990 Winston-Salem Spirits as a teammate of Tracy Smith.
While a Miami assistant coach, nine RedHawk hitters went on to professional baseball careers.
The Boston native and his wife, Dawn, have two children; a son, Sam, and a daughter, Madison.
