SOPHOMORE YEAR (2008):
Made 17 appearances on the season, starting seven times and notching one complete game ... had a 4-5 record with a 5.45 ERA, as he struck out 37 batters in 66 innings of work ... came out of the bullpen and threw 3 2/3 strong innings of relief against LSU on Saturday (2/23), stranding the three runners he inherited ... allowed just two hits and one earned run in five innings of work against New Mexico State (3/11), striking out two ... collected a win in relief by throwing the ninth inning against IPFW (3/22) ... started against Xavier (3/26), throwing 4 1/3 solid innings ... had an excellent start against Minnesota (3/30), allowing just five hits and three walks while striking out six in seven innings ... appeared twice in relief against Iowa ... went an inning against Louisville (4/15) ... threw two scoreless innings against Penn State (4/20) ... allowed just four hits in a six-inning start against Indiana State (4/23) ... went 6 2/3 innings in starting the opener against Purdue (5/3), striking out six ... hurled a complete game against Northwestern (5/9) in a losing effort ... got the win in the series opener against Michigan State (5/15), allowing one earned run on nine hits in eight innings of work ... went 5 2/3, striking out three in the Big Ten Tournament opener against Penn State (5/21).
FRESHMAN YEAR: 2007
Posted a 2-2 record with a 6.11 ERA and two saves in his debut season ... finished the year with 35 1/3 innings pitched, striking out 26 and allowing hitters just a .264 average ... made his IU debut against Eastern Illinois (3/2) at the AutoZone Classic, striking out one batter in a relief role ... got his first save two days later against Northern Iowa, pitching 1 2/3 innings and striking out two ... made his first career start against Florida A&M (3/17), pitching five innings and allowing four hits to get his first career win ... struck out a career-high seven in a start against Penn State (4/29) ... collected a win in relief with four innings of one-hit ball against Louisville (5/9) ... pitched the final two innings of a 10-7 win over Minnesota (5/19), striking out two to collect his second save.
Played for coach Don Schone at Watkins Memorial High School for four years ... went 9-2 on the mound with a 1.52 ERA in his senior season ... also hit .425 with 11 home runs at the plate ... was named Ohio Capital Conference Player of the Year ... was chosen to play in Ohio's North-South all-star game ... named all-conference and all-county in each of his final three seasons on the field ... was an all-district selection in his junior and senior campaigns ... was named his team MVP in his final two years ... one of the top all-around athletes in Watkins' history after earning 10 letters in three sports ... garnered three all-conference selections in football and two in basketball ... was selected all-district in both sports in his final two years at Watkins ... was an all-state selection in football in his final campaign ... holds the school records at Watkins in home runs for baseball and for receptions, receiving yards and touchdown receptions in football ... was named the Licking County Male Athlete of the Year in his final year at Watkins ... has one brother, Thomas, and one sister, Sarah ... parents are Bill and Robin Arnett.
