    • Tracy Smith is in his ninth season as Indiana Baseball's head coach.

    • Unanimous choice as the 2013 Big Ten Coach of the Year

    • Led Indiana to school's first ever College World Series appearance in 2013, ending a 29-year CWS absence from the Big Ten.

    • The 2013 season also saw IU win the Big Ten regular season and B1G Tournament titles. It marked Indiana's first regular season conference championship since 1949 and first outright crown since 1932.

    • Guided the 2009 Hoosiers into postseason play as well, advancing to the NCAA Regionals after winning the Big Ten Tourney in dominating fashion outscoring the competition by a combined scored of 47-9 in four games.

    • Been on staff for all three of Indiana's NCAA appearances, serving as the pitching coach for the 1996 squad which boasted the lowest ERA in the conference.

    • Has mentored eight All-Americans, eight Freshman All-Americans, 13 All-Big Ten First Teamers and 19 Major League Baseball draft picks over the last six seasons, including three First Round selections in the 2009 MLB June Draft.

    • At least one frosh has earned Freshman All-America honors in each of the last six years.

    • Under Coach Smith, Hoosiers have been named the Big Ten Player of the Year (Alex Dickerson, 2010), Big Ten Pitcher of the Year (Aaron Slegers, 2013; Eric Arnett, 2009) and Big Ten Freshman of the Year (Sam Travis, 2012; Alex Dickerson, 2009).

    • Dickerson won the Big Ten Triple Crown in 2010, batting .419 with 24 homeruns and 75 RBI.

    • Has landed three players on the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team (Kyle Schwarber and Sam Travis, 2013; Alex Dickerson, 2010).

    • Smith returned to Bloomington (IU pitching coach in 1995-96) after a nine-year stint as the head coach of Miami University.

    • In 17 total years as a head coach, Smith has seen 49 of his players selected in the MLB Draft, 19 of which came in the first 10 rounds.

    • Four of Smith's protégés have reached the `Big Show' since 2010, playing in the Major Leagues (Graham Taylor and John Ely, 2010; Jake Dunning and Josh Phegley, 2013).

    • In nine years at the helm of the RedHawks baseball program, Smith compiled eight straight 30-win seasons, two NCAA Regional appearances and advanced to the Mid-American Conference Tournament finals six times.

    • Smith played a huge role in facility upgrades at both universities. He was instrumental in the fundraising, approval and design of both Miami's Stanley G. McKie Field at Joseph P. Hayden Jr. Park and Indiana's Bart Kaufman Field.

    • A four-year letterwinner at Miami, pitching and playing the left side of the infield.

    • Played three minor league seasons in the Chicago Cubs organization.

    • Assistant coach at Miami from 1993-94.

    • Participated in 1992 Major League Scouting Bureau's Professional Scout School as a representative of the Chicago Cubs.

    • Began his coaching career as head coach at Miami University-Middletown in 1990.

    • Graduated with a bachelor's degree in Education from Miami in 1989 and completed a master's degree in Sport Organization from Miami in 1992.

    • The Kentland, Ind., native and his wife, Jaime, reside in Bloomington. They have three sons, Casey, Ty and Jack. Casey is a redshirt senior on the Hoosier baseball team while Ty is a freshman receiver for IU Football. Jack is a three-sport athlete at Bloomington High School North.
