WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Central Connecticut State rallied from a 9-5 deficit to score seven runs over the final two innings for a 12-9 victory over the Indiana baseball team on Saturday. T.C. Knipp had two hits and drove in three runs while Tyler Rogers was 3-for-4 with four runs scored in the loss. CCSU improved to 5-3 with the victory and Indiana fell to 7-13.

The Blue Devils got four hits apiece from Sean Allaire and Anthony Scialdone to lead them to victory. Donny White tallied the win out of the bullpen to improve to 1-1 and Chris Chagnon allowed two hits over the final two innings for the save. Jake Dunning picked up the loss for the Hoosiers to fall to 0-2.

After CCSU got two runs in the top of the first, Indiana rallied for three in the bottom of the second to take the lead. Vince Gonzalez drew a one-out walk and Josh Lyon and Rogers were hit by consecutive pitches to load the bases for Brian Lambert. A wild pitch scored Gonzalez for the first run and Lambert delivered a second tally with a groundout to second base. Knipp then followed with a single to center to give IU a 3-2 edge.

Indiana scored a solo run in the fourth as Rogers scampered home on a wild pitch, but CCSU regained the lead with three unearned runs in the top of the fifth. The Blue Devils used three infield singles and a dribbler through the left side coupled with a throwing error by Matt Bashore to take a 5-4 edge in the frame. Bashore scattered eight hits over his six innings, striking out five and walking none to record a no-decision.

IU rallied to regain the lead in the bottom of the fifth, as a Kipp Schutz walk and a Gonzalez single put the first two runners aboard for the Hoosiers. Dylan Swift then dropped down a sac bunt to move the runners to second and third with one away. Rogers followed by drilling the first pitch he saw into the right field corner and it bounced over the fence for a ground-rule double to score two runs. A Lambert single and a Knipp groundout scored Rogers to give IU a 7-5 lead after five.

The Hoosiers tacked on a solo run in the sixth on a leadoff triple by Alex Dickerson and a Schutz single, then added one more in the seventh. Rogers led off with a single and Lambert bunted him to second. Knipp followed by drilling a single to centerfield to make it 9-5 Hoosiers entering the eighth. The Blue Devils saw the first four batters reach in the inning - three on hits and one on a walk - to score three runs and trim the deficit to 9-8.

Dunning then came on and struck out the first batter he faced, but Allaire followed with an RBI single to tie the game. After a Scialdone double to move Allaire to third, a wild pitch from Dunning on a 1-2 count gave CCSU a 10-9 edge heading into the ninth. The Blue Devils scored two insurance runs off of Dunning to push the game to 12-9, and IU got just one man on in the ninth before a Phegley flyout ended the game.

Drew Leininger and Joey O'Gara each threw scoreless innings in the loss for IU, with O'Gara pitching the sixth and Leininger coming on to put out the fire in the ninth in relief of Dunning. Gonzalez went 2-for-2 to continue his torrid hitting, and Lambert went 2-for-3 in the game. Schutz had three hits and a walk as well for the Hoosiers.

Indiana will return to action on Wednesday, March 25, when it travels to Cincinnati for a matchup with Xavier. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m. EDT. Live audio and statistics for the game will be available on
