BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana kept swinging hot bats, banging out 13 hits and scoring 11 runs en route to an 11-5 victory over Eastern Kentucky (7-13) in the 2012 home opener. In the home-and-home series against EKU, the Hoosiers totaled 17 runs on 23 hits.

Dustin DeMuth was a wrecking ball on Wednesday, going 4-for-4 with three RBI, three runs scored, a double and a triple. Justin Cureton, Kyle Schwarber and Michael Basil each stroked a pair of hits in the ball game. Also, Schwarber and Sam Travis combined to drive in four runs.

Making his first career start, freshman Collin McEnery picked up the `W' on a scheduled `staff day.' The Orland Park, Ill., native worked a four-inning shift; allowing just two hits with no runs. Walker Stadler relieved him in the fifth, shutting out the Colonels for the next 1.2 innings.

Basil got the party started in the bottom of the second, connecting on a towering solo shot deep over the heads of fans located in the Crowe's Nest. Indiana (8-13) then tacked on three more in the subsequent inning, highlighted by a two-run bomb for Travis.

The Hoosiers posted crooked numbers in three straight innings, scoring two in the fourth and four in the fifth. Another tally in the sixth inning made it five consecutive innings with a run; culminating in an 11-0 lead entering the seventh.

EKU started to mount a comeback in the later stages of the ball game, but fell short with a total of five runs in the final two frames.
