BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - With the Big Ten opener on the horizon, Indiana Baseball notched its 16th non-conference victory of the season on Wednesday. The Hoosiers (16-8) defeated Shawnee State (20-18) by the final score of 12-8 before heading to Ann Arbor, Mich., for a weekend series with the Wolverines.

Wes Wilson came up a triple short of hitting for the cycle, racking up four hits in total. The Lexington, Ky., native made his way around the bases for three runs scored as well. Josh Lyon was also seeing the ball well, pounding out three hits in four at-bats. He reached base four times, also drawing a walk. Alex Dickerson and Micah Johnson each posted multi-RBI games, driving in two runs apiece.

It was a complete team effort as all nine starters in the batting order either drove in a run or scored a run.

Johnson was a terror on the base paths, swiping a pair of bags to run his Big Ten-leading total to 17 stolen bases. Speaking of Big Ten best, a pair of pick offs by Drew Leininger and company inflated the Hoosier total to 22; more than tripling the next closest conference school. Leininger is responsible for his fair share, pegging four runners thus far. He also picked up the `W' to improve his season mark to 3-1.

Shawnee State did its fair share of scoring, plating eight runs in the game; but the Hoosiers pushed runs across home on a consistent basis throughout the contest. Indiana tallied at least one run in every inning, busting out for a three-spot in the bottom of the sixth. The Hoosiers would add a lone run in the seventh and eighth frames, securing the 12-8 triumph. Freshman southpaw Eric Kartman sealed the deal in the ninth, coming in from the pen to hurl a scoreless final frame.

Indiana is now set for a three-game set at Michigan, beginning with a 3 pm Friday afternoon battle. Live video streams of all three games will be provided by www.BigTenNetwork.com. GameTracker live stats will also be available via IUHoosiers.com.
