    IU LOSES TO PITTSBURGH 4-3

    Homestead, Fla. - The University of Pittsburgh scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to rally from a 3-1 deficit and hand Indiana University a 4-3 loss. The Panthers scored three runs (two unearned ) as the Hoosiers committed two fielding errors. Indiana is now 11-5, while Pittsburgh improved to 8-5. The loss also snapped IU's eight game-winning streak. Fred Graf took the loss and is now 3-2, while Lou Kammermeier was the winner and is now 1-0.

    IU starter Brad Edwards went eight strong innings and allowed only four singles and one run (in the fifth), while striking out nine Panther batters and walking three. Dan Haegle went 1-5 with a RBI, Rich Berich went 1-4 with a RBI, and Eric Blakely had two hits in five at bats including a double and run to lead the Indiana offense. The Hoosiers took advantage of Pittsburgh's poor fielding by scoring three unearned runs on four Pitt errors.
