After losing nine letterwinners from last season's squad, the Indiana baseball team welcomes 17 newcomers this season. In the coming weeks we will feature each IU newcomer leading up to the team's Feb. 22 opener against DePauw. Arden McWilliams is next up in the spotlight.

McWilliams attended Shaker Heights High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where he was first team all-state, All-Plain Dealer and All-Sun Press his senior season. He also was selected as the team's offensive and defensive MVPs.

For the second straight season, McWilliams was a first team All-Leake Erie League member in 2004. The 5-11, 180-pound infielder batted .402 with 11 doubles, 30 RBI and 33 run scored during his final campaign.

A three-year starter and four-year varsity letterwinner, McWilliams also played football and basketball.

The son of Doug and Jani McWiliams has two brothers, River (15) and Canyon (6).

"Arden is a very good athlete who can play the infield and outfield. He can run, throw and hit. We feel Arden can be a very good player for us in the future."
