    Leading up to the 2007 baseball season, IUHOOSIERS.com will profile all of the Hoosier newcomers for the upcoming year. The newcomer profile for Wednesday, Jan. 10, is of pitcher Jarrett Casey. Casey, who throws lefty and hits righty, will wear number 31 for Indiana in 2007.

    Jarrett Casey will play for the Hoosiers in 2007 after playing two years of varsity baseball for Dan Roman at Lawrence Central High School. Casey, a southpaw from Indianapolis, had a 12-4 career record for Lawrence Central.

    Casey finished his senior campaign with a 6-2 record and a 1.40 ERA to go along with 10.2 strikeouts per contest. That performance led Casey to All-Marion County honorable mention and honorable mention on the Indianapolis Star All-North Team.

    As a junior, Casey posted an identical 6-2 record for Lawrence North, to go along with a 2.70 ERA and 7.2 strikeouts per outing. Casey was an all-conference selection for Conference Indiana in both of his final two seasons.

    Casey has one sister, Emily, and plans to major in sports marketing and management at IU. The son of Jeff and Jane Casey was born on Oct. 27, 1987.
