Leading up to the 2007 baseball season, IUHOOSIERS.com will profile all of the Hoosier newcomers for the upcoming year. The newcomer profile for Friday, Jan. 19, is of infielder Brad Henke. Henke, who throws and hits righty, will wear number 12 for Indiana in 2007.

Brad Henke joins the IU baseball squad after three years under Rich Andriole at Cathedral High School. The Carmel, Ind., native was a three-sport athlete at Cathedral, earning seven letters in baseball, basketball and football.

Henke had a monster senior season for Cathedral, hitting .446 with four home runs, 15 doubles, 39 runs and 46 RBIs on the season. He also hit better than .400 in his sophomore and junior seasons.

Henke was named city player of the year after his senior campaign and was an All-North region selection. The Indianapolis Star named the infielder to its Super Team after the all-state performer led Cathedral to the semi-state final in 2006.

Henke has one sister, Betsy, and plans to major in business at IU. The son of Steve and Kathy Henke was born Oct. 6, 1987.
