Spotlight on David Trager
After losing nine letterwinners from last season's squad, the Indiana baseball team welcomes 17 newcomers this season. In the coming weeks, we will feature each IU newcomer leading up to the team's Feb. 22 opener against DePauw. David Trager is next up in the spotlight.
Trager will provide depth for the Hoosier infield this season after lettering four seasons for head coach Greg Gilbert at Ballard High School (Prospect, Ky.). As a senior last season, Trager was named to the all-county and all-region teams.
Additionally, Trager closed out his career earning a spot on the all-district team for the second straight year as well as being selected as a Seventh Region All-Star for the second time in as many seasons.
Trager also lettered in football for three years and golf for one season. He played his summer baseball in the Derby City League.
The son of Scott and Sandra Trager has one sibling, Lindsey. David plans to study sport marketing and management.
HEAD COACH BOB MORGAN ON TRAGER:
"David is a very good athlete and competitor. He is a middle infielder with defense being his best asset right now. As he improves offensively, it will mean playing time for David."
TRAGER ON CHOOSING IU:
"I chose Indiana University because I thought it would be a good school to play baseball at and Coach Morgan seemed like a good coach that I would want to play for."
