    Leading up to the 2007 baseball season, IUHOOSIERS.com will profile all of the Hoosier newcomers for the upcoming year. The newcomer profile for Wednesday, Jan. 24, is of outfielder Brian Lambert. Lambert, who throws and hits righty, will wear number 10 for Indiana in 2007.

    Brian Lambert will join the Hoosiers as an outfielder in 2007 after playing baseball under Toby Cotes at Pontiac High School. The Pontiac, Ill., native earned seven letters in baseball and football as a high school athlete.

    Lambert was a three-time all-state selection by the Chicago Tribune to go along with all-conference honors in each season. He was also named his team MVP in both his sophomore and senior seasons, and as a sophomore he was an all-state selection by the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association. He also pieced together a 31-game hitting streak in his career.

    Lambert has one brother, Neil, and is undecided regarding his major at IU. The son of Don and Linda Lambert was born on Feb. 4, 1988.
