Spotlight on Brad Udoff
After losing nine letterwinners from last season's squad, the Indiana baseball team welcomes 17 newcomers this season. In the coming weeks, we will feature each IU newcomer leading up to the team's Feb. 22 opener against DePauw. Brad Udoff is next up in the spotlight.
Udoff, a standout catcher from Pace Academy, capped off his career being named to the 2004 Georgia Dugout Club All-State team. He also earned a spot on the Fulton County All-Area squad and was named team MVP for the second straight season as a senior.
The Atlanta native posted a .429 batting average with five home runs, 21 RBI and a .560 on-base percentage, leading his team to a fourth-place finish in the region in 2004.
A three-year starter and letterwinner for head coach Charlie Owens, Udoff was named MVP of his Pace Academy team that qualified for the 2003 state playoffs and placed third in the region.
Additionally, Udoff played summer baseball for the East Cobb Bulls in 2002 and for the East Cobb Seminoles in 2003, where he was selected as the Seminoles MVP.
Off the diamond, Udoff was a member of the National Honor Society and the Honor Roll. The son of Ed and Amy Udoff has one brother, Ross.
HEAD COACH BOB MORGAN ON UDOFF:
"Brad is going to give us depth behind the plate. He is a very good hitter who needs to improve his defensive skills. As he improves defensively, he will be a contributor."
