Leading up to the 2007 baseball season, IUHOOSIERS.com will profile all of the Hoosier newcomers for the upcoming year. The newcomer profile for Sunday, Feb. 4, is of pitcher J.T. Larson. Larson, who throws and hits righty, will wear number 39 for Indiana in 2007.
J.T. Larson joins the Hoosiers after earning three letters for Curry Harden at Hamilton Southeastern High School. The Fishers, Ind., native will begin his career on the mound for IU.
Larson served as his team captain in 2006, his final year for the Royals, posting 10 starts with a 2.80 ERA. He struck out 47 batters in 55 innings for the squad. Larson was named to the Indianapolis Star All-North Team in 2005 after helping Southeastern to an 18-9 record. That followed a 2004 season in which the Royals finished as sectional and regional champions, falling to Lawrence Central in the semi-state championship.
Larson, who was the National Amateur Baseball Federation MVP in 2003, has one brother, Adam, and one sister, Nicolle. The son of Joel and Chris Larson was born on Nov. 15, 1987, and plans to major in business at IU.
