    Leading up to the 2007 baseball season, IUHOOSIERS.com will profile all of the Hoosier newcomers for the upcoming year. The newcomer profile for Tuesday, Feb. 6, is of catcher Justin Morales. Morales, who throws and hits righty, will wear number 20 for Indiana in 2007.

    Justin Morales joins the Indiana program in 2007 after playing three years of varsity baseball for Barbe High School. The Lake Charles, La., native also played football in high school, and is a standout defensive catcher on the diamond.

    Morales helped Barbe take home the Class 5A state championship in 2006. He is the first Barbe baseball alum to ever join a Big Ten program. In 2005, Morales hit .262 with a .991 fielding percentage and was named second team all-district.

    Morales has two brothers, Jaken and Lex, and one sister, Riley, and plans to major in history at IU. The son of Todd Morales and Liz and Todd Townsley was born on Jan. 30, 1988.
