    In the weeks leading up to the 2008 season, IUHoosiers.com will be introducing you to the newest members of the Indiana Baseball team. The newcomer profile for Thursday, Feb. 7, is of sophomore pitcher Anthony Cera.

    Pitcher Anthony Cera is in his first year on the Hoosier roster. The sophomore pitched two years for Andrean High School before coming to Indiana.

    As a senior, Cera went 4-0 with a 0.97 ERA and seven saves. The relief specialist helped Andrean to a 33-2 record and the Class 3A state championship. He threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings in the semi-state finals to send the 59ers to the championship game and was named to the Post Tribune All-Area First Team.

    As a junior, Cera did not allow an earned run and helped Andrean to the state championship game. He posted a career ERA of 0.67, the school's all-time record. The two-sport athlete also played football for Andrean.

    Cera has one brother, Joseph, and one sister, Elizabeth. The son of Thomas and Theresa Cera was born on Oct. 17, 1986, and intends to major in health administration at Indiana.
