    Leading up to the 2007 baseball season, IUHOOSIERS.com will profile all of the Hoosier newcomers for the upcoming year. The newcomer profile for Thursday, Feb. 8, is of pitcher Joey O'Gara. O'Gara, who throws and hits righty, will wear number 40 for Indiana in 2007.

    Joey O'Gara joins the IU baseball program after playing two years under head coach Christian Shimpton at Sycamore High School. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native earned a total of four letters at Sycamore in football and baseball.

    O'Gara was named the conference Comeback Player of the Year in 2006 after striking out 22 batters in 27 innings of conference action. He posted a 2-4 record a year after being limited to just 3.1 innings on the mound. He was an honor roll student all four years at Sycamore.

    O'Gara has one brother, Danny, and plans to major in real estate/finance at IU. His father, Bill, played football at the University of Oklahoma from 1975-79. The son of Melissa and Bill O'Gara was born on April 20, 1988.
