In the weeks leading up to the 2008 season, IUHoosiers.com will be introducing you to the newest members of the Indiana Baseball team. The newcomer profile for Wednesday, Feb. 13, is of freshman infielder Tyler Reimer.
Tyler Reimer joins the Hoosiers after a successful career in two sports at Zionsville High School. The infielder/quarterback was his school's male athlete of the year in both 2006 and 2007 after starring for his team in both baseball and football.
Reimer was named to the Indianapolis Star Super Team in both 2006 and 2007 and was named to the Class 4A All-State Team as well. He helped Zionsville to a sectional championship in 2007, as he emerged as an Indiana Mr. Baseball candidate as a senior, hitting .432 with 15 home runs, 15 doubles, three triples and 64 RBIs. On the mound, Reimer threw 65 1/3 innings for Zionsville, posting a 2.79 ERA with 55 strikeouts.
The 6-1 freshman earned Hoosier Crossroads All-Conference honors in each of his last three seasons. As a junior, Reimer hit .456 with 10 long balls, 12 doubles and 36 RBIs. He also quarterbacked the football team to an 8-3 season in 2006
The son of Jeff and Jody Reimer was born on Oct. 3, 1988, and is undecided regarding his major at Indiana.
