BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Big Ten Network has heightened its coverage of baseball for the 2011 season, and the Hoosiers will benefit with at least four games being broadcast nationally. Indiana Baseball fans will also get a chance to watch their Hoosiers as numerous games will be streamed live at BigTenNetwork.com.

Indiana's first contest shown on the national stage will be a road game in Iowa City as the Hoosiers and Hawkeyes battle it out in a 7 p.m. series opener on Friday, Apr. 15.

The other three IU games on the Big Ten Network schedule will all be played in the friendly confines of Sembower Field. Indiana's games on Sun., Apr. 24 versus Minnesota and Sat., May 7 against Northwestern are each slated for noon starts, airing on the Big Ten Network. The following Saturday, May 14, will showcase an IU vs. Michigan State battle on the network, beginning at 3 p.m. EST.

There is an opportunity for the Hoosiers to have one or two more games aired on the linear network as well. A pair of "wild card" games will be selected for a BTN broadcast on the final weekend of the season when IU is scheduled for a three-game slate in Champaign, Ill. Every game of the Big Ten Tournament is also set for a Big Ten Network showing.

Though the complete BigTenNetwork.com streaming schedule has not yet been released, it is known that the entire Hoosiers' weekend series at Michigan (May 1-3) will be streamed online. Check back to the IU Baseball Schedule Page for future games added to the BigTenNetwork.com streaming list.

Between the linear network and online streaming, the Big Ten Network is expected to broadcast over 80 baseball games this season, all in high definition.

"We're pleased to expand our coverage yet again this year, and give Big Ten baseball and softball teams a tremendous level of national exposure," said Big Ten Network president Mark Silverman.

Head Coach Tracy Smith and his IU Baseball squad get the 2011 campaign started this weekend (Feb. 18-20) by heading south to the Caravelle Resort Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Hoosiers will face Virginia Tech, Boston College and #20 Coastal Carolina.
