Big Ten Network Announces Baseball TV Schedule
Feb. 17, 2010
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana baseball team will have six regular-season games televised on the Big Ten Network, it was announced today. IU's series against Minnesota (April 23-25) and Michigan State (May 14-16) will be carried live from coast-to-coast on the BTN. IU's series at Ohio State (April 9-11) will also be televised online at BTN.com.
"We're thrilled to enter year three with the Big Ten Network," IU head coach Tracy Smith said. "The exposure from the Network has been huge for us. We can literally pick up the phone and talk to a prospect anywhere in the United States and there is a good chance they have seen us play on TV."
Indiana and Minnesota are the only two teams to have six regular-season games televised, the most of any conference squads. The Network will also carry all 11 games of the Big Ten Tournament for the second straight season.
With the Minnesota and Michigan State series being televised, game times have been changed against both opponents. Both the Friday and Saturday games against the Golden Gophers will now start at 7 p.m. ET in the Metrodome. The start times on Friday and Saturday against the Spartans have been moved up to 2 p.m. and noon, respectively, as well. Both Sunday games will remain at the previously scheduled times.
"We're thrilled to expand our coverage of Big Ten baseball and softball this spring through our streaming initiative and to provide these student-athletes with a national and international stage for their talents," Big Ten Network president Mark Silverman said.
IU will also feature live audio of every IU game throughout the 2010 season through Stretch Internet. Click here for the live audio page.
Indiana opens the 2010 campaign on Friday, with four games at No. 23 San Diego from Feb. 19-21.
