    HOOSIERS SUFFER FIRST LOSS

    San Diego, Calif.--The Indiana baseball team suffered its first loss of the season as the Hoosiers fell to San Diego State 5-2 at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

    San Diego State took advantage of a three-run second inning as it scored on four infield singles and a pair of Hoosier errors. Indiana fought back to make the score 4-2 with a pair of runs in the fourth inning.

    Mark Minor led off the fourth inning with a walk and Jason Williams singled to move Minor to second. Rob Stastny then sacrificed the runners to second and third with a bunt. Minor then scored on a wild pitch and Williams later scored on a Benji Clause ground out.

    Zach McCellan (0-1) suffered the loss for the Hoosiers (2-1) as he worked five innings allowing just two earned runs while striking out four. Indiana was held to three hits while San Diego State pitchers fanned 11 Hoosier batters.

    Indiana battles Oklahoma State tomorrow in San Diego at 5 p.m. est.
