Newcomer Profile - Wes Wilson

In the weeks leading up to the 2008 season, IUHoosiers.com will be introducing you to the newest members of the Indiana Baseball team. The newcomer profile for Thursday, Feb. 21, is of freshman catcher Wes Wilson.
Wes Wilson joins the Hoosiers in 2008 after spending the fall at Mississippi State. That followed three years under Larry Poynter at Bryan Station High School in Lexington, Ky., for Wilson.
As a senior, Wilson led his team in batting average (.436), home runs (3), runs (32), stolen bases (21), slugging percentage (.674) and on-base percentage (.504). The catcher was named to the all-city team in both his junior and senior seasons and helped Bryan Station to a regional tournament appearance as a senior.
Wilson also played three years of football at Bryan Station, and was named all-city in each of his final two years. He was also his team's MVP as a senior.
Wilson has one brother, Austin, and one sister, Macon. The son of Ward and Susan Wilson was born on Aug. 18, 1989, and intends to major in sport communication/marketing at Indiana.
