    HOOSIERS LOSE TO VANDERBILT 6-5

    Nashville, Tenn. -- The Indiana baseball team dropped the second of a weekend series at Vanderbilt 6-5 Sunday.

    The Hoosiers took a 1-0 lead in the third as Blake St. Clair drove in Jason Williams with a fielder's choice. IU increased that to 2-0 in the fourth on a RBI single by Frank O'Connell which scored Mike Spisak who had earlier singled.

    The Commodores scored three times in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead off IU starter Kyle Boyd. Jimmy Dykes had a two-run double to highlight the inning which ended the day for Boyd. Vanderbilt got three more runs in the sixth all of which were unearned off reliever Tom Willerer.

    The Hoosiers mounted a rally in the eighth as they scored twice as O'Connell had a groundout RBI and Dan Heagele had a RBI single.

    The loss puts the Hoosiers record at 2-4 on the early season while Vanderbilt is now 6-0. The Hoosiers play at home Tuesday against IU Southeast.
