Seven run first inning leads the way for Indiana
Bloomington, Ind.--The Indiana Baseball team routed Indiana University Southeast this afternoon, 17-0, at Sembower Field.
Sophomore southpaw David Ferris threw three innings of one-hit ball to get his first win of the season. The Hoosiers have scored 43 runs in their first two games while only allowing eight.
Indiana (2-0) jumped on the Grenadiers right from the start with a seven run first inning. Senior catcher Brandt Childs singled to right field, scoring Benji Clause and Dan Haegele. Four batters later, with the bases loaded, Blake St. Clair tripled down the right field line to put Indiana up 6-0. St. Clair led the Hoosiers with two hits, four RBI's and two runs scored.
The Hoosiers take on Pittsburgh in a three-game series this weekend at Sembower Field. The action gets underway at 3:00 pm on Friday afternoon.
