Sujka Earns Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week Honors
Feb. 27, 2012
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Baseball's Chris Sujka was named the Big Ten's Co-Freshman of the Week on Monday (Feb. 27), sharing the weekly award with Iowa's Sasha Kuebel. Sujka hit .500 (6-for-12) and slugged .917, combining for an OPS of 1.417 in three games at Tulane.
The Oak Forest, Ill., native also drove in four runs, including a three-run homer on Saturday. It marked Sujka's second long-ball of the season; a rookie campaign that has seen him rack up a conference-best 10 RBI through six games.
Sujka becomes the first Hoosier to gather Freshman of the Week recognition since Dustin DeMuth on May 13, 2011. It marked the third such accolade for DeMuth and sixth for Indiana during the 2011 season.
Sujka and the rest of the Hoosiers head to Johnson City, Tenn., for a three-game set with the East Tennessee State Buccaneers.
